Ukrainian Parliament Extends Martial Law and Mobilization Until August 2025

On April 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days — until August 6, 2025. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak on his Telegram channel.

The extension will take effect from 5:30 a.m. on May 9, 2025, and will last for three months.

“Parliament, for the 15th time during this convocation, approved No. 13172 extending martial law until August 6 (for 90 days),” Zhelezniak wrote.

According to him, 357 members of parliament supported the decision, with only one voting against it.

Separately, parliament also approved the extension of the general mobilization. This decision was supported by 346 MPs, one voted against, and one abstained.

The laws will come into force after being signed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Previously, on January 15, 2025, the Rada had extended both martial law and general mobilization until May 9.

President Zelenskyy earlier stated that martial law would be lifted after the war ends. Following that, elections will be held in accordance with Ukrainian law. “No one will deliberately postpone anything,” he emphasized.
